CONDOMS

Take responsibility in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases.

Seniors, sex is enjoyable and if you find a partner to have fun with, go for it.  Remember, sex helps the body to stay young. However, you are never to old to wear a condom.  Many seniors are afraid to get blood transfusions because of fear of Aids or HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection): What seniors don't realize is that you can get AIDS through unprotected sexual intercourse at any age (even if you are 90 years and more, AIDS or HIV does not discriminate against age).

The great news is that condoms come in all types of textures, colors and flavors! Experimenting with different condoms can be very sensual and fun for both you and your partner.

Here are tips on how to use a condom:

You may think you know what to do, but everyone needs a friendly reminder.

1. Buy only latex condoms.
2. Use a new condom for each episode of intercourse, even if you don't ejaculate.
3. Check to see if the condoms say that they protect against STDs (sexually transmitted disease).
4. Make sure the condoms have not passed their expiration date.
5. Check to see if the foil pack is intact.
6. Open the package up carefully and be sure to avoid damaging the condoms with either your fingernails or any other sharp object.
7. Place the condom on the erect penis prior to any intimate contact.
8. Check to see if the condom fits snugly on the penis.
9. Leave a space at the tip of the condom and remove any air pockets from that space.
10. Use only water-base lubricants, such as K-Y Jelly or spermicidal foam.  NEVER USE OIL-BASED LUBRICANTS, SUCH AS PETROLEUM JELLY (VASELINE), lotions or mineral oil, because they destroy the latex.
11. Withdraw immediately after ejaculation, while the penis is still erect, holding the condom firmly against the base of the penis.
Don't get discouraged or get turned off to sex. This check list is just a friendly reminder to take a care of yourself, and you still can have fun.

Go and enjoy, and start today.
